Fife Council and Fife Historic Buildings Trust are currently developing applications to Historic Environment Scotland under the Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) and to the Heritage Lottery Fund's Townscape Heritage programme (TH).

If the applications are successful, the resulting five-year project would deliver a wide range of measures to improve Inverkeithing's historic town centre and conservation area including bringing under-used spaces back into use, undertaking repairs to and restoration of older buildings, and improvements to the public realm. A small grants scheme would be available to owners of both residential and business properties to enable them to undertake remedial works using appropriate materials and techniques. The project would complement the recent work carried out by Parsons Brinkerhof looking at the scope for town centre improvements. The project also aims to increase appreciation of Inverkeithing's rich history, encourage participation in heritage activities and provide training in traditional building skills and techniques. These will be brought together in an Activity Plan to be delivered over the five years of the project.

Views are being sought from the local community and a number of community consultation and training events are planned. To find out more please contact Chris Wragg at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. / Tel: 03451 555 555 ext. 47 18 51
