Anstruther

Funding from the Heritage Lottery fund for a fifth Fife Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) was agreed in 2011 as was funding from Historic Environment Scotland from its Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS).

The proposed regeneration programme for Anstruther, which will run until 2016, has already seen two priority projects being completed. The conversion of the Murray Library was finished in February 2014. It now houses a creative business centre with seven occupied units in what used to be the old snooker hall to the rear. The front is destined to become back-packers accommodation.

The Hew Scott Hall was also recently refurbished, and under the new name of the Dreel Halls is already a treasured community facility. It is owned and run by Anstruther Improvement Association.
