Planning is underway for Buckhaven Heritage, an ambitious project for Buckhaven, Denbeath and Muiredge, that will explore the local heritage and support the town’s future.
Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. The project team will continue to work with the community to find out what places and stories are important to you, and develop a series of linked heritage projects:
- Repairs and improvements to key community buildings in Buckhaven’s historic centre, to protect them for the future, support their long term use, and improve their energy efficiency and climate resilience.
- A grant scheme for privately owned traditional buildings for repairs, energy efficiency and shopfront improvements.
- Improvements to the streets in the historic centre of Buckhaven.
- A programme of heritage events and activities for the community, and traditional skills training for young people and the local construction industry.
You can get involved through consultations, events and activities. Get in touch if you have any questions or ideas or to join the project mailing list: email or call 01592 890060.
Fife Council and Fife Historic Buildings Trust are working in partnership with the local community to develop the plans for the Buckhaven Heritage project, thanks to funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Historic Environment Scotland, the Community Recovery Fund, and Fife Council.
If funders are supportive of the plans, the project will begin in 2026 and will run until 2031.
