A Year of Awards for Cupar CARS/THI
Published 19th December 2019
2019 has been a year of recognition and awards for the successful Cupar CARS/THI project.
We were delighted to be recognised at the Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning 2019, one of the Scottish Government’s most prestigious awards. Kevin Stewart MSP, Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning, presented the award at a ceremony in Edinburgh in November, highlighting the innovative partnership between Fife Council and Fife Historic Buildings Trust, working with the community in Cupar to deliver the project. Cupar Burgh Chambers – now a luxurious holiday let apartment managed by Fife Historic Buildings Trust – has also been individually recognised for a number of awards. These include a commendation from the Civic Trust AABC Conservation Award, whose judges hailed it as “a sensitive, well executed conservation project, with strong community value”, and a commendation from the Dundee Institute of Architects in the best Rehab/ Regeneration category. It was also shortlisted for the RICS 2019 Awards and The Georgian Group Architectural Awards 2019.
You can book your stay at the Cupar Burgh Chambers here, and more information on the Cupar CARS/THI can be found on the Projects page. We would like to thank our funders, Historic Environment Scotland and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, for their support.
