Inverkeithing Town House: Write an inscription for the bell
Published 20th December 2021
The Inverkeithing Town House in Townhall Street was rebuilt in the mid-18th century and has served the town well. However it is now in need of conservation and repair, along with some adaptations to make the building safe and accessible for everyone in Inverkeithing. Fife Council, working with Fife Historic Buildings Trust, local groups and individuals successfully secured funding to upgrade the building for the 21st Century. Work is expected to start on site in 2022.
One of the exciting things happening as part of the project is the forging of a new bell returning a bell to the Town House after many years. The bell needs an inscription that will last for hundreds of years. The Inverkeithing Town House steering group has launched a competition to come up with the inscription, writing or engraving. We would love to hear your views and want a local winner to have the privilege of their idea being on the bell for years to come. Be creative.
Your competition entry must:
- Have 100 – 150 characters
- Contain the date of renovation (2022)
- Commemorate the re-opening of the Town House
Individuals may submit multiple entries. Submissions will be judged by the Inverkeithing Town House Steering Group (based on creativity and fit) and the panel’s decision is final.
Deadline for entries: Friday 4 January 2022.
A shortlist will be chosen by the steering group in the New Year and then there will be a community vote to choose the overall winner. Be a part of Inverkeithing’s future heritage! Please remember to include your name, contact details and how you are connected to Inverkeithing on your entry.
